Jungle

Defeating Plantera slows the spread of Corruption or Crimson by 50%.[1] Mud Blocks, Jungle grass, Jungle vines, and a dark green background are the main components of the surface Jungle biome.[1] On Jungle grass, mahogany trees appear without player action, and standard Acorns are plantable there too.[1] Water pools are common in the Jungle, and Bamboo stalks frequently accompany them.[1]

Directly beneath the Jungle, starting at cavern depth, lies the Underground Jungle.[1] By placing Jungle Grass Seeds into Mud Blocks, players can create new Jungle zones.[1]

NPC happiness

The Dryad, Painter, and Witch Doctor like the Jungle; the Goblin Tinkerer, Steampunker, and Cyborg dislike it.[2]

Pre-Hardmode

The Jungle is positioned on the map side that is opposite the Dungeon and Snow biome, and matches the side where the Underground Desert appears.[3]

Hardmode

The Jungle Key opens the Jungle Chest in the Dungeon after Plantera is defeated, containing a Piranha Gun.[4]

Trivia

Originally, a Swamp biome was planned as an alternative to the Jungle, but it was scrapped.[5]
