Night's Edge
The Night's Edge is a pre-Hardmode broadsword that can be obtained after defeating Skeletron.[1] When swung, it produces a circular purple aura that extends the sword's reach, and a second aura moves toward the cursor.[1] Each aura can strike a maximum of two foes, but a single foe cannot be struck by both auras.[1] The Legendary modifier is the optimal one for this weapon.[1]
It has a damage value of 40, knockback of 4.5, critical chance of 4%, and use time of 25.[6] The Night's Edge sells for 4 Gold and requires 1 for research.[6]

Recipes
The sword is crafted at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar using Light's Bane or Blood Butcherer, Muramasa, Blade of Grass, and Volcano.[2]
Used in
It is used to craft the True Night's Edge at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil, requiring 20 Souls of Fright, Might, and Sight.[3]
Tips
The sword is considered the best melee option for the Wall of Flesh due to its high damage and large hitbox.[4] In a Drunk world, a Muramasa can be found in a Locked Gold Chest above the Dungeon Guardian spawn level, allowing the Night's Edge to be obtained before defeating Skeletron.[4]
Trivia
The four swords used in its recipe each represent a major pre-Hardmode biome: Jungle, Dungeon, The Underworld, and the evil biomes.[5] Until the 1.1 patch, the Night's Edge was the most powerful sword available; currently it holds the title of strongest pre-Hardmode sword.[5]
