Description
Shadowrun Duels uses a rotating dial system similar to WizKids' HeroClix, which won three Origins Awards in 2002. The figurines are 6 inches tall (1:12 scale) and were molded by Plan B Toys. Each base has three Clix dials that track damage to the head, weapon, or body. Duels take place on a flat surface at least 5 ft by 5 ft, with figurines starting at least 4 ft apart. When damage is done, the owning player marks any one of the three dials; when all three totals reach zero, the miniature is eliminated. WizKids announced three releases of six figurines each, but the third series was never produced due to low sales. A series of bonus cards was given out at conventions and tournaments. As of 2010, the rights to the game are held by Topps, which bought WizKids in 2003 and later sold WizKids—but not the Shadowrun property—in 2009.
Reception
The website OAFE reviewed two figurines. The first, "Kellan Colt", was a special publicity release between Series 1 and Series 2. The reviewer noted that the figure did not closely resemble the box art, though it was sculpted well, and that the body reused the same mold as "Kyushi" from Series 1, with several weapons borrowed from Series 2 figurines. The Second Series figurine "Karkhov" was praised for excellent sculpting, including texture on clothes and detailing on weapons. Its articulation—ball-jointed shoulders, pin-jointed elbows, knees, wrists, and peg-jointed neck, waist, and hips—was noted, with the comment that more leg articulation, particularly ball-jointed hips and ankle joints, would have improved the figure.
