Nuyen
The Sixth World's currency: hire runners, buy guns, sell data.
Nuyen is the currency of the Shadowrun setting. In the 1993 SNES game it hires other shadowrunners and buys guns and key items, enemies drop it and hacking with a cyberdeck earns more; in the 1994 Sega Genesis game stolen data is sold for it.

Reader's Guide
Stolen files sell at semi-random prices depending on the system and the difficulty rating of the node, from nothing up to 12,000 nuyen for a single file. The game opens with Joshua spending his last nuyen on a flight to Seattle to avenge his brother, and a credstick holding 500 nuyen is among the early finds. In Shadowrun Returns, Sam Watts's posthumous message promises 100,000 nuyen in escrow to whoever brings his killer to justice.
