Carmilla

The timid Witch of Lust, whose beauty once set a whole country on fire.

Carmilla is the Witch of Lust and one of the primary characters of the series' fourth arc. She has extremely low self-confidence, keeps her eyes downcast and acts very timid, stuttering and questioning her own words, which more often than not ticks other people off.

Background

She speaks very politely, trying not to cause any disagreement or disapproval, and shows a submissive side with her fellow Witches of Sin, having no problem taking part in Echidna's scheme to lure Subaru into her castle of dreams despite knowing it would end badly for her. She frequently shies away from stern gazes and pleads with people not to hit her or use any violence toward her, which likely stems from bad past experiences.

In the past Carmilla was the reason her village, the neighboring villages and cities and even the great country she lived in were engulfed in the flames of war. Once a normal girl loved by her village, with a fiancé, she was desired by a man of power; the angry villagers rose up, fought him and burned him down with his mansion, the surrounding towns came to regard them as dangerous, the fighting spread, and soon their force was toppling countries, all in her name. Regarded as a heavenly maiden, she wanted none of it and saw that they were misled by their fantasies and ideals. After they toppled a large country her fiancé proposed to her at the top of the castle; she ignored him and left everything behind, despairing that what she had originally wanted no longer existed. She is voiced by Manaka Iwami in Japanese and Lisa Reimold in English.
