The leaders of the Witch Cult: Petelgeuse, Regulus, the three Gluttons, Sirius, Capella and Stride.

The Sin Archbishops are the leaders of the Witch Cult, each one representing a sin. Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti, who represents the sin of Sloth, was once a respectable man but was driven insane long ago and now targets Subaru, sensing his deep connection to the Witch of Envy.

Background

Petelgeuse's insanity dates from the Witch of Vanity's attack on the Elf settlement a hundred years ago, when he absorbed the unstable Witch Factors of Sloth and accidentally killed Emilia's aunt Fortuna; a spirit that possesses compatible bodies, he wields the Authority of Sloth, the invisible Unseen Hands, is accompanied by ten hand-picked "Fingers" who serve as sub-commanders and spare bodies, and is finally defeated by Julius and Subaru and crushed under carriage wheels. Regulus obtained the Witch Factors of Greed more than 100 years ago, killed his family, village and surrounding cities and forced his childhood love to become the first of many wives; his Authority of Greed stops the time of objects, his Lion Heart stops his own heart's time and his Little King links his heart to his wives', making him invincible until Subaru unravels the trick and Reinhard deals the finishing blow.

Lye Batenkaitos represents the Gourmet aspect of the sin of Gluttony, believes everything comes down to experiences and knowledge, and refers to himself as the intellectual Sin Archbishop. Roy Alphard represents the Bizarre Eating aspect of Gluttony and is absorbed by Reid Astrea after eating him in arc 6. Louise Arneb, who represents the Satiation aspect, has no physical body, resides in the Hall of Memories and experiences life through the Memories and Names her brothers Lye and Roy provide; wanting Return by Death for herself, she splits her soul and plants part of it in Subaru's soul.

Sirius, wrapped in bandages, is Petelgeuse's stalker and self-proclaimed wife; her Authority of Wrath forces people's emotions to resonate, which Subaru calls "soulwashing", and she is captured at the end of arc 5 after Priscilla and Lilliana defeat her. Capella, considered the worst personality among the Archbishops, uses the Authority of Lust to transform her own body and others', heal any injury and turn corpses into Demi-Beasts. Stride, a poisoned son of the Emperor raised by Kurgan, plots against the Kingdom of Lugnica and has no faith in the Witch of Envy.
