Gameplay

The player controls a little black creature called a Clony through the woods. The game progresses through four stages—Dawn, Noon, Dusk, and Night—each with a distinct color scheme and new trap themes. Egg-shaped machines emerge from the water in Day I, and by night they activate, increasing the difficulty. The character eventually disables the machines, but Day II introduces smaller octopus-like machines and disappearing animals. The final level involves saving a rabbit and ends on a cliffhanger. In-app purchases offer additional level packs featuring characters named Snorf and Fury.

Development

Frogmind Games, based in Finland, developed Badland. The Doomsday level pack arrived in early 2014, following Fury as he flees woods overrun by machines. Another pack, Daydream, has Snorf escaping and uncovering the forest's hidden magic. In 2015, the game added a multiplayer mode for up to four players and a level editor, letting users design and share their own stages online in Level World for others to play and rate.
