Gameplay
Players control a squad of three Ghost soldiers chosen from eight characters across five classes: scout, support gunner, marksman, shotgunner, and medic. The third-person cover-based shooter emphasizes tactical squad orders, with gameplay and interface modeled on Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and its sequel. Unlike earlier Ghost Recon titles, the player can dynamically switch control among all three squad members.
Plot
The Ghosts work with Mister Hisan and the Mumpuri Guard, a non-political militia protecting civilians from armed factions. CIA intelligence identifies the People's Action Front, or Activists, as responsible for the massacre. The Ghosts eliminate several Activist bases and kill their leader, the Teacher, but are ambushed by the Loyalists, a paramilitary group. Rescued by the Mumpuri Guard, the Ghosts later rescue Colonel Mitchell after his helicopter is shot down. They discover that CIA informant Dilip Khan is a Loyalist who fed false information implicating the Teacher; the Loyalists staged the attacks as a false flag to absorb the Activists. The Ghosts capture Khan and force a confession, splitting the Activists and Loyalists into warring factions. Using the chaos, the Ghosts infiltrate a Loyalist headquarters to rescue the kidnapped President of Sri Lanka and uncover a propaganda broadcast revealing the Loyalist leader as Sunil Ranga, the Minister of Energy. The Ghosts infiltrate Ranga's mansion, where he is either killed or captured, ending the hostilities. Mister Hisan thanks them, and they remind him they were never there.
