Gameplay
Gameplay involves taking charge of a professional football team, as well as semi-professional, amateur, and international teams. Players can sign football players, manage club finances, and give team talks. The series simulates real-world management, with the player judged by the club's AI owners and board. Football Manager 2012 added increased scouting information and the ability to add or remove playable leagues at the end of each season.
Release
A demo was released on Steam in association with Sky Sports HD on 6 October 2011, offering half a season of gameplay that can be continued in the full version. The demo is limited to quick-starts in England, Scotland, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia. Football Manager 2012 is the first in the series to require Steam activation, a change that angered many fans; Sega stated the move was intended to reduce piracy.
