Grand Line
The sea that every would-be Pirate King must cross.
In One Piece, the Grand Line is a sea that runs perpendicular to the Red Line, along what would be the equator on Earth. It is bounded by the Calm Belt, strips of calm ocean infested with huge ship-eating sea serpents known as Sea Kings.

Lore & Background
Because of the Red Line and the Calm Belt, passage between the four seas and the Grand Line is difficult. Government ships use Sea Prism Stone to mask their presence as they cross the Calm Belt, while at Reverse Mountain water from the four seas flows uphill and merges into a fast, dangerous canal that enters the Grand Line. The Grand Line is split into two halves, Paradise and the New World, with the Red Line between them. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates explore it in search of the treasure known as the One Piece.
