Ramiel
The Fifth Angel, a floating crystal defeated in Operation Yashima.
Ramiel is the 5th Angel and one of the largest and most powerful that NERV faces. It is the first Angel to physically break into the GeoFront, when its drill bores through the armour above it, and it is defeated in Operation Yashima. It comes after Shamshel and before Gaghiel.

Background
Unlike the Angels before it, Ramiel does not look alive: it is a huge floating blue crystal shaped like two pyramids joined at the base, and a choral voice sings as it moves. It fires a beam, powered by what is shown as an 'Inner Torus Reactor', that can melt through an Evangelion's armour in seconds and hit any target in range, and it can sense threats coming from underground or beyond its firing range. Its A.T. Field is one of the strongest of any Angel, visible to the naked eye, and is said to need 180 million kilowatts to penetrate. That made direct combat too dangerous, which led to Operation Yashima.
