Background
The salarians are known for their scientific prowess and their covert Special Tasks Group, on which the Council's Spectres are modelled. About 2,000 years before the first game they uplifted the krogan to fight the rachni, and later developed the genophage when the krogan rebelled.
In Mass Effect 3, Shepard and the krogan leader travel to Sur'Kesh to meet a salarian scientist, Mordin Solus if he survived Mass Effect 2, who is working on a genophage cure from Eve, a fertile krogan female and the only survivor of Maelon's experiments. Captain Kirrahe, if he survived the first game, returns as a Major and helps Shepard there. From Sur'Kesh, Shepard goes on to Tuchanka.
