Geppetto

The puppet maker of Krat who calls P his son.

He added a secret directive into the Covenant that gives him nearly-unlimited control over most Puppets.^[1] The protagonist, P, is the revived Puppet of Geppetto's son, Carlo.^[1]

How it changed

Geppetto's secret directive allowed him to control most Puppets, but "Sentient" Puppets whose "Ego" awakened could bypass those restrictions.^[1] These Sentient Puppets could be nearly-identical revived versions of dead Humans who turned into Ergo.^[1] P is revealed to be the revived Puppet of Carlo, Geppetto's son.^[1] The King of Puppets was the revived Puppet of Romeo, Carlo's best friend.^[1]

Until his death, the King of Puppets had been trying to avoid further death and warn P of Geppetto's deception.^[1] A character posing as the treasure hunter Alidoro is an impostor who killed the original and was complicit in an attack on the hotel.^[1] The "King of Riddles" contacting P by phone is Arlecchino, one of the first Sentient Puppets.^[1] A post-credits scene reveals that a guest named Giangio is actually a deceiver named Philippus Paracelsus.^[2]

Paracelsus states his plan to come back to Krat later in order to locate a person he calls "another key" and names "Dorothy."^[2]

What the maker and period sources say

A 2023 walkthrough by El Ouardighi on TheGamer notes that after reaching Hotel Krat, players encounter several NPCs including Treasure Hunter Alidoro.^[3] The same source states that defeating main bosses in Lies of P rewards players with Rare Ergos.^[3]
