How it changed

Arlecchino is revealed to be among the earliest puppets whose "Ego" awakened, allowing them to bypass the Covenant's restrictions.^[1] These sentient puppets can be nearly-identical revived versions of dead humans who turned into Ergo.^[1] The game's plot includes the discovery that Geppetto added a secret directive into the Covenant for nearly-unlimited control of most puppets.^[1] The protagonist P is the revived puppet of Geppetto's son Carlo.^[1]

The King of Puppets was the revived puppet of Carlo's best friend Romeo.^[1] Until his death, the King had been trying to warn P of Geppetto's deception.^[1] A post-credits scene shows Giangio, a guest at Hotel Krat, is actually a deceiver named Philippus Paracelsus.^[2] The scene ends with someone clicking the heels of their shoes thrice on a rooftop.^[2]

In a post-credits scene, the character Giangio, who had been staying at Hotel Krat under a false persona as a timid ex-Alchemist, is revealed to be the cunning deceiver Philippus Paracelsus; he refers to P as "a new brother" and describes sentient Puppets as "a new type of humanity", while his female conversation partner notes that eternal life can manifest in various ways.^[2]

A 2023 walkthrough by El Ouardighi on TheGamer notes that after reaching Hotel Krat, players encounter several NPCs including Treasure Hunter Alidoro.^[3] The same source states that defeating main bosses in "Lies of P" rewards Rare Ergos.^[3]
