Puppets
Krat's Ergo-powered automatons, bound by the Covenant.
Puppets in this setting are mechanical beings that can become "Sentient" when their "Ego" awakens, allowing them to bypass control restrictions.[1] Some Sentient Puppets are nearly-identical revived versions of dead humans who turned into the Ergo powering them.[1] A post-credits scene shows a character labeling Sentient Puppets "a new type of humanity".[2]
How it changed
Geppetto added a secret directive into the Covenant, giving himself nearly-unlimited control of most Puppets.[1] Sentient Puppets whose Ego awakened could bypass the Covenant's restrictions.[1] The King of Puppets was the revived Puppet of Romeo, Carlo's best friend.[1] Until his death, the King had been trying to avoid further death and warn P of Geppetto's deception.[1]
P himself is the revived Puppet of Carlo, Geppetto's son.[1] A guest named Giangio was revealed to be Philippus Paracelsus, a crafty deceiver who played a key role in triggering recent events.[2] Paracelsus referred to P as "a new brother" and stated his plan to come back to Krat to locate "Dorothy", whom he called "another key".[2] On a Krat rooftop, an individual walks and then taps their heels together three times.[2]
What the maker and period sources say
A 2023 walkthrough by El Ouardighi notes that after reaching Hotel Krat, players encounter several NPCs including Treasure Hunter Alidoro.[3] The same source states that defeating main bosses rewards Rare Ergos.[3] The walkthrough describes Alidoro's quest as "rather interesting".[3]
