Succession War Arc
Kakin's princes fight for the throne during the voyage to the Dark Continent.
The succession war arc follows the contest among the children of King Nasubi Hui Guo Rou of Kakin for his throne, fought aboard the Black Whale as Beyond Netero's expedition sails for the Dark Continent. Every prince must take part, even the newborn Marayam.
Lore & Background
Nasubi presents a charismatic face in public but shows no remorse at having his children killed. The first prince, Benjamin, assigns his own guards to his siblings, and Kurapika protects Prince Woble while trying to reclaim the Kurta clan's scarlet eyes from Prince Tserriednich. One hedonistic prince openly disregards the war and throws a party to his mother's dismay.
Momoze becomes the first prince to die, strangled in her sleep by one of her own guards. Halkenburg refuses to take part until he learns that only winning can end the war; Benjamin's man Balsamilco Might poisons him, and he possesses Balsamilco's body after death as part of his plan. Fugetsu and her sister agree to work together and enlist Melody in an escape plan. Meanwhile Hisoka hunts the Phantom Troupe elsewhere on the ship.
