Meruem vs. Komugi
The Gungi games that made the Chimera Ant King question himself.
Komugi is a blind girl from the Republic of East Gorteau and the reigning world champion of Gungi, a board game created there. After taking over the country, Meruem challenges expert game players and beats them all at their own specialities; Komugi is the only one he cannot defeat.
Lore & Background
Unable to beat her, the King begins to show respect and care for Komugi and to question his own violent methods of rule. Her exposure to him awakens her ability to use Nen and improves her Gungi, while she influences him to become more human. His guard Shaiapouf sees her as a threat and makes attempts on her life.
During the raid on the palace Komugi is badly hurt by Zeno's ability and healed by Pitou. After Meruem is fatally poisoned by Netero's bomb, she stays with him through his final moments and dies minutes later from exposure to him. Beside their hands lie a white Gungi General and a black Shinobi, standing for Komugi and Meruem.
