Helicon

The quiet homeworld of a man who changed the galaxy.

Helicon is a planet in the Arcturus sector, best known as the birthplace of the mathematician Hari Seldon. Seldon's father worked there as a tobacco grower in a hydroponics plant, and Seldon earned his doctorate in mathematics at the University of Helicon. In Prelude to Foundation the planet is said to be less notable for its mathematics than for its martial arts, chief among them Heliconian Twisting. Seldon mentions two of its indigenous species, the lamec and the greti.
