Background
His mother, Atsuko, died in a car accident when he was young, leaving him with his father Naoyuki, who turned to drink. During a fight his father slammed him into a wall and dislocated his right shoulder; he can no longer raise that arm above shoulder height and had to give up basketball, and his father has treated him like a stranger ever since. Sarcastic but loyal, Tomoya helps Nagisa Furukawa revive the drama club and gets to know Kyou and Ryou Fujibayashi, Kotomi Ichinose, a childhood friend he had forgotten, Tomoyo Sakagami and Fuko Ibuki. In ~After Story~ he marries Nagisa and works as an electrician; after her death he neglects their daughter Ushio for five years, until his grandmother Shino tells him what his father sacrificed for him.
