Background
Nagisa is said to be bound to the place; when she falls ill during her pregnancy, Tomoya suggests she might recover if the hospital were torn down. Ushio is drawn to it too and walks there on her own; on one such walk Fuko Ibuki finds her there, they talk, and Fuko takes her home. In 'The End of the World' Tomoya thinks of taking the sick Ushio to the hospital but decides against it, since no one knows how to help her, and he and Akio sit outside discussing whether her bond with the place could be the cause of her illness.
