Akio Furukawa

Background

Rough-talking but kind and childish, Akio plays baseball with the neighbourhood children in the park next to the bakery and becomes a father figure to Tomoya Okazaki, though he hates Tomoya calling him 'father'. He was once an actor in a theatre company and gave it up for Nagisa's sake: she nearly died as a small child while he and Sanae were absorbed in their careers. A running gag has him insult Sanae's bread without noticing she is there, then chase after her stuffing his mouth with it and claiming to love it. In his own route in the visual novel he is caught up in a bus hijacking. He and Sanae raise Ushio for five years after Nagisa's death, and he would rather Ushio call him 'Akki'.
