Sternritter
The Wandenreich's elite Quincy warriors, each known by a letter.
The Sternritter are the powerful Quincies of the Wandenreich's army, used to wipe out the Soul Reapers in the final arc of Bleach. Each member carries a letter as an epithet tied to a personal ability, and an inner guard called the Schutzstaffel protects Yhwach directly.

Lore & Background
The Wandenreich is a hidden Quincy empire ruled by Yhwach, who is himself Sternritter "A". The Schutzstaffel is led by Lille Barro, "X", whose rifle shots can pierce captain-level Soul Reapers.
Reader's Guide
Sternritter abilities are named by their letter: Bambietta (E) turns anything her spirit energy enters into a bomb, Äs Nödt (F) spreads paralyzing fear, Liltotto Lamperd (G) can swallow things larger than herself, and Quilge Opie (J) builds cages of spirit energy. Several can also activate a Vollständig, a higher Quincy form.
During the first invasion of Soul Society, several Sternritter steal captains' bankai: Äs Nödt takes Byakuya's, Bambietta Basterbine takes Komamura's and Cang Du takes Hitsugaya's. When Yhwach names Uryū Ishida as his successor, most of them object. In the second invasion many fight the captains again, and the strongest join Yhwach's assault on the Soul King's palace.
