Espada
The ten strongest Arrancar in Aizen's army.
The Espada are an order of ten Arrancar, the strongest in Sōsuke Aizen's army in Bleach. Each one represents an aspect of death, and they are ranked from 10 (weakest) to 1 (strongest) by the density of their spiritual pressure rather than by fighting skill.

Lore & Background
Ranks 4 to 0 may not use Resurrección inside Las Noches, because their released power could destroy the fortress. An Espada can be demoted for being maimed, for being outclassed by a stronger Arrancar or for breaking Aizen's orders. Each may choose two-digit Arrancar as personal subordinates, called Fracción.
Reader's Guide
Espada fight with Cero and its stronger variants; Grimmjow's version is banned in Las Noches. Each Espada also holds a Caja de Negación, a cube meant to seal away a Fracción as punishment.
Members include Yammy Riyalgo (rage), who becomes Espada 0 in his released form; Ulquiorra Cifer (emptiness), who abducts Orihime and fights Ichigo in Las Noches; Grimmjow (destruction); Szayelaporro Grantz (madness); Starrk and Tier Halibel. Nelliel, the former 3rd Espada, was attacked from behind by Nnoitra Gilga and lost her rank.
