Earthbending
The bending art of substance.
Earthbending is the bending art of the Earth Kingdom in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It represents the element of substance and is counted the most diverse and enduring of the four bending arts.
Lore & Background
Earthbenders can move earth, rock, sand, lava, mud and metal, and they are strongest with their feet or hands touching the ground. The style is based on Hung Gar, chosen for its rooted stances and powerful strikes, while the blind prodigy Toph Beifong, who teaches Aang, fights in a Southern Praying Mantis style and senses her surroundings through vibrations in the ground.
