The lion turtles' art of bending a person's own energy.

Energybending is the ancient technique of the lion turtles in Avatar: The Last Airbender, which lets its user give or take away a person's bending. The lion turtles made the first benders by manipulating the chi of humans.

Lore & Background

Aang, unwilling to kill Fire Lord Ozai, learns energybending from the last living lion turtle and uses it to remove Ozai's firebending, ending the Hundred Year War. He also uses it to connect with his inner spirit and draw cosmic energy. In The Legend of Korra he teaches Korra to energybend, and she uses it to restore the bending that Amon had taken away.
