Waterbending
The bending art of change.
Waterbending is the bending art of the Water Tribes in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It represents the element of change and is counted the most adaptive of the four bending arts.
Lore & Background
Its movements are based on the internal martial art tai chi, with elements of Jeet Kune Do, and it stresses softness and breathing over hard aggression, turning defence into control and counter-attack. Katara and later Master Pakku teach it to Aang; at the start of the series Katara is the only waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe, and in the North custom barred women from learning it as a martial art.
