Background

A pacifist, he still shares his family's dislike of Fritz's choice to wall the Eldians off on Paradis. He publicly reveals his family's true history and makes clear that he intends to seize the island's resources. Claiming the War Hammer Titan his bloodline had kept for generations, he declares war on Paradis, and Eren's Attack Titan kills and eats him. His younger sister Lara turns out to be the real holder of the War Hammer Titan.

Main characters

Eren Yeager is the main protagonist and antagonist. After witnessing his mother eaten by a Titan as a child, he joins the Survey Corps to eradicate Titans. He graduates fifth in his class but is swallowed by a bearded Titan on his first mission, only to reappear as a 15-meter Titan. It is later revealed that his father killed the Reiss family and passed the Founding Titan and Attack Titan to Eren by having him eat him.

Eren becomes a target for various factions. In the final arc, he unleashes millions of Colossal Titans, wiping out 80% of humanity. The Survey Corps and Marleyan Warriors unite to stop him, and Mikasa kills him. Before the battle, Eren admits to Armin that he simply wanted to level everything.

Mikasa buries his head in Shiganshina under a tree that later resembles the tree where the Titan organism originated. Eren's Titan form was modeled after mixed martial artist Yushin Okami. He is voiced by Yuki Kaji in Japanese and Bryce Papenbrook in English. Mikasa, Eren's childhood friend, was taken in by his family after her parents were murdered.

She joins the Survey Corps to protect Eren and graduates top of her class. Her Ackerman bloodline grants her superhuman strength. She is the last known person of Asian descent within the Walls.

Survey Corps

The Survey Corps ventures outside the Walls to study Titans and fight them, suffering high casualties. Their insignia is the Wings of Freedom. Erwin Smith, the 13th Commander, led the last mission before Wall Maria fell. He concealed intel to expose Annie, led a rescue for Eren, and staged a coup to place Historia in power. He sacrificed himself and recruits so Levi could attack the Beast Titan. Levi chose to let Erwin die and gave the Titan serum to Armin. Erwin is voiced by Daisuke Ono in Japanese and J. Michael Tatum in English. Hange, leader of 4th Squad, is a scientist who studies Titans and invents weapons like the Thunder Spears. Hange lost an eye in the battle of Shiganshina and succeeded Erwin as the 14th Commander. After Eren's message to all Subjects of Ymir, Hange forms an alliance with remaining members.
