Frieda Reiss

Historia's older half-sister and a past holder of the Founding Titan.

Frieda Reiss is the firstborn daughter of Rod Reiss and the older half-sister of Historia in Attack on Titan, and she first shows up in Eren's dreams. Kind-hearted and welcomed by the people of the Reiss family's lands, she looked after Historia, taught her to read and encouraged her to be kind.

Background

At fifteen she inherited the Founding Titan from her uncle Uri Reiss, gaining the power to take Titan form, alter memories and draw on the collected knowledge of human history. She later erased herself from Historia's memory. Still inexperienced at controlling Titans, Frieda was killed and eaten by Grisha Yeager during the fall of Wall Maria, while she and her family were sheltering in a church. Rod hid what happened and made her death look like the work of bandits. Because she had held the Founding Titan, her memories passed to Grisha and then to Eren, who eventually worked out who she was.
