Background

Built by Professor Ivo and T. O. Morrow, Red Volcano helps Ivo during his time in the Secret Society of Super Villains, gathering soil from sites of genocide for a plot to build a golem called Genocide. The Red Tornado miniseries reveals him as one of four androids representing the classical elements, alongside Red Tornado, Red Torpedo and Red Inferno.

Unlike his siblings he has no humanity or conscience, torturing his creator to find the others and murdering Red Inferno's adopted parents. He generates heat, wears a cape of molten rock, and has super-strength, flight and geokinesis.

In the show, Red Tornado, Red Inferno and Red Torpedo stop his Yellowstone plan and he is melted; in Runaways, Lex Luthor rebuilds him to manipulate the runaways into helping the Light before Blue Beetle destroys him.
