Background

The show had aired on Cartoon Network for two seasons from 2010 to 2013 before being cancelled when toy sales fell and Mattel pulled its funding. A strong fan campaign and high Netflix viewership led Warner Bros. to renew it in November 2016, and development on Outsiders began the next month. By July 2017 the season had been split into two arcs of 13 episodes.

The Team's cast includes Artemis Crock as Tigress, M'gann M'orzz, Violet Harper as Halo, Barbara Gordon as Oracle, Dick Grayson as Nightwing and Tim Drake as Robin, while the Outsiders bring together Beast Boy, Wonder Girl, Blue Beetle, Kid Flash, Static, Brion Markov as Geo-Force, Cyborg, Forager, Terra and Superboy.

At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Weisman and Vietti announced that a fourth season, Phantoms, was already in production; it premiered on HBO Max on October 16, 2021.
