Fictional character biography
In his first appearance, Lagoon Boy is granted citizenship in Atlantis as part of Aquaman's effort to make the city more open to outsiders, though his presence is met with protests from elitist Atlanteans. He arrives at the citizenship ceremony on the day of Aquaman and Mera's marriage, where he befriends Blubber, an anthropomorphic whale, and his mermaid assistant Sheeva. The three call themselves the "Land-Lovers" due to their fascination with the surface world.
Blubber creates a device allowing Atlanteans to view surface television, and the trio travels to the surface to compare it with what they saw on broadcasts, causing a disturbance that brings the Coast Guard. Aquaman rescues them and returns them to Atlantis. After Erik Larsen's run on Aquaman ended, the Land-Lovers did not reappear in the title. Lagoon Boy later appears during the "Batman: No Man's Land" storyline alongside Superboy, Robin, and Impulse against Kobra.
In the Sins of Youth storyline, he is aged to adulthood and helps Young Justice against Klarion the Witch Boy and Black Manta, and assists the JSA, JLA, and Titans in ending the mixture of science and magic causing transformations. He later displays the ability to command humpback whales to create a riptide on Zandia's shores, and teams up with Robin to stop a sea monster from damaging Gotham Harbor. Over a year after Young Justice disbands, he is recruited into Titans East but is rendered comatose after an attack by Trigon's children.
In The New 52 continuity reboot, he appears as a member of the Teen Titans five years in the future. During the "Heroes in Crisis" storyline, he is seen at the Sanctuary rehabilitation center before being killed by a mysterious assailant, later revealed to have survived as the victim was a clone created by Gold Beetle.

Lagoon Boy, also known as La'gaan, appears in Young Justice, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. This version is a student at the Conservatory of Sorcery and a member of the Team, displaying a cocky, arrogant, and thrill-seeking personality. He is the estranged friend of Kaldur'ahm and the boyfriend of Miss Martian, with a romantic rivalry with her ex-boyfriend Superboy. In the third season, he has left the Team, returned to Atlantis, and joined the royal guard. In the fourth season, he is revealed to be bisexual, in a three-way polyamorous marriage, and raising a baby; later, he joins the Justice League as the third Aquaman, sharing the mantle with Kaldur'ahm and Orin. He appears in Teen Titans Go! #52 as an alternate alias of Robby Reed after his H-Dial borrows Aqualad's powers, and in issue #14 of the Young Justice tie-in comic.
