The mountains
The range between the old forest and the lake, and the home of the Tribe of Rushing Water.
The mountains are the range the Clans cross in Warriors to reach their new home by the lake, and the territory of the Tribe of Rushing Water. The six cats returning from the sun-drown-place are the first to go through them, in Moonrise, and they meet the Tribe there. In Dawn all four Clans make the crossing, after the spirit of the medicine cat Mudfur streaks across the sky as a shooting star and drops behind the peaks to show the way.
Lore & Background
In Moonrise the Tribe shelters the travellers. A mountain lion called Sharptooth has been killing Tribe cats, and a Tribe prophecy says a silver cat will end it: Feathertail brings down a stalactite in the cave where the beast has been trapped, killing it and herself. In Dawn the Clans rest with the Tribe on their journey, and Stormfur stays behind with Brook Where Small Fish Swim. In Outcast a patrol of Clan cats returns to help the Tribe against rogues who steal its prey.
In Sign of the Moon, Jayfeather, Dovewing and Squirrelflight visit, and Jayfeather names a new Stoneteller. In Hidden Moon the Clans send a patrol to the Tribe in the hope of reaching StarClan through a cat who lives in both afterlives; an eagle attacks the patrol on the way home. The mountains are also where the Clans' story starts: in Dawn of the Clans, cats from a tribe in the mountains leave to look for a better home and become the first Clans.
