Malekith

The Witch King, ruler of the Dark Elves and second son of Aenarion.

Malekith, also known as the Witch King, is the King of the Dark Elves in the Warhammer Fantasy setting and the second son of Aenarion, the first Phoenix King. Dark Elf society is rigidly stratified around him and its aristocracy. Gav Thorpe's novel Malekith (2009) opens The Sundering, a group of his stories that also includes Shadow King (2009), the novella The Bloody-Handed (2010) and Caledor (2011), collected in omnibus editions in 2012 and 2018.

The Sundering is the destructive civil war after which the Dark Elves broke away from the High Elves, splitting the Elven race. In Total War: Warhammer II the Dark Elves use the power of the Vortex to try to turn Malekith into a god. The Black Guard, his personal bodyguards, are led by their captain Kouran Darkhand.
