Karl Franz

Emperor of the Empire of Man.

Karl Franz is the Emperor of the Empire of Man in the Warhammer Fantasy setting, listed as a prince and the reigning emperor. Total War: Warhammer begins with his election as Emperor, at a time when the Empire is still shaken by a civil war uprising and its counts resent his rule.

Lore & Background

He appears as the Empire's ruler in earlier Warhammer games too. In Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, the dwarf Ungrunn hires the mercenary Bernhardt to escort an envoy to Nuln so that Karl Franz can be asked for help against a Skaven plot. In Warhammer: Dark Omen, Karl Franz summons Bernhardt to Altdorf and tells him that orcs have begun invading the Border Princes from the south.
