Realm of Shyish

Shyish, the Realm of Death or the Amethyst Realm, is the Mortal Realm formed entirely of the Amethyst Wind of Magic, the necromantic energy of death. Every gate to the underworld from the other realms opens here, and nowhere is more haunted; everything in it is in decline. It is a realm of endings holding underworlds beyond counting, each called into being by the shared belief of a mortal people and settled by the souls who believed in it, growing with every new believer and dispersing into nothing as the civilisation that dreamed it is forgotten. Not all of it is grim: Athanasia, for instance, is a land of peace and enlightenment where souls fade and are reborn. At its centre stands the great citadel of Nagashizzar, seat of Nagash, the god of death and Supreme Lord of the Undead.
