Vilgefortz
Mercenary-turned-sorcerer, a serious fighter in his own right, and the mage who jumped to Emhyr mid-war.
Vilgefortz of Roggeveen wasn't born to the staff. He ran the blade first — a seasoned mercenary who only turned to sorcery after adulthood, a rare offspring of a mage. As a member of the Chapter of the Conclave he ranked among the most powerful mages around, and he swung just as hard in a fistfight as in a spell. At the Battle of Sodden Hill he commanded the mage contingent, the swing that made the North's victory stick. Then he flipped: went over to Emhyr to drag Ciri in and work her elder blood for his own ends. Stygga was the end of the line — Geralt put him down in the final assault, after Vilgefortz had seriously wounded both Yen and Geralt and melted Regis.
