The Choedan Kal (Male)
The ancient amplifier that unlocked the Dragon's full potential.
The Choedan Kal were ancient artifacts created during the Age of Legends by the Aes Sedai of the Hall of Servants. Designed as sa'angreal, or power amplifiers, they existed in two distinct sets: one for men channeling saidin and one for women channeling saidar. The Male Choedan Kal was specifically crafted to amplify the strength of a male channeler to levels previously thought impossible without driving them into madness.

Lore & Background
Forged by the greatest weavers of the Age of Legends, the Choedan Kal were hidden away when the world fell into darkness. They were intended as emergency tools for a time when the One Power needed to be wielded with overwhelming force against existential threats. Unlike standard sa'angreal, which could easily burn out a channeler, these artifacts possessed a unique stability that allowed for sustained, massive weaving.
In Their Own Story
Rand stood alone in the cold stone chamber beneath Tar Valon, the artifact humming against his palm. It felt alive, vibrating with the raw potential of saidin waiting to be unleashed. He closed his eyes and reached for the Source, feeling the familiar pull of the taint, but this time the artifact surged forward like a tidal wave. The air crackled as threads of fire and light spiraled around him, brighter than any star, threatening to consume him even as they filled him with godlike strength.
Reader's Guide
The Choedan Kal functioned as an extreme amplifier for the One Power, distinct from standard sa'angreal due to their immense capacity and specific design by the Hall of Servants during the Age of Legends. Unlike lesser artifacts, these devices allowed a channeler to weave threads of power far beyond normal human limits without immediate burnout, provided they possessed sufficient skill to control the surge. Hidden within the foundations of the White Tower in Tar Valon, the Male Choedan Kal remained undiscovered until the Dragon Reborn sought refuge and strength during the Third Age. Rand al'Thor became its primary wielder, utilizing the artifact to channel saidin at levels that could reshape battlefields or withstand the taint's influence temporarily. Ultimately, these artifacts were deemed too dangerous for permanent existence. Following their use in pivotal conflicts against the Shadow, they were shattered to ensure no future enemy could harness such overwhelming force.
