Players are redpills, freed humans. Character creation offers the blue pill, which quits the game, or the red pill, which frees the mind and starts the game.
History
Ubisoft pulled out of co-publishing it, amid doubts caused by the cool reception of the second and third films and a crowded MMO market. Warner sold the game to Sony Online Entertainment, which took over on August 15, 2005 and shut it down on July 31, 2009.
