Background
Sheltered as that upbringing was, Lenore Dove had a fiery, unbidden spirit and kept acting out against the Capitol. Haymitch's reaping left her distraught, and in retribution she sang in public the songs the Peacekeepers had forbidden her, which got her arrested; her uncles talked the Peacekeepers into house arrest instead, and she and Haymitch were reunited. The gumdrop he fed her had been laced with poison by President Snow as punishment for Haymitch's rebellion, something Haymitch had no idea of. She died in his arms after making him promise not to let the sun rise on the reaping, and in the aftermath he turned to drink and cut off all his friends for fear the Capitol would kill them too.
Covey names come from a poem and a color, and hers follows the pattern: Lenore from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven", Dove from the color.
