Background

Ferro comes from Muntaz, a small nation in Kanta beyond the mountains east of Shaffa, which the Gurkish conquered, enslaving its people. Bought at twelve by a man who trained slave girls, she cut a gash across her own face two years later to spite him, and later became one of the slaves of Uthman, the future Emperor Uthman-ul-Dosht. After escaping she lived for years in the desert, preying on Gurkish soldiers without mercy. She is a Devil-Blood, a distant descendant of Demons, with speed, endurance, healing and sight beyond human limits, though she is completely colour-blind, and she can safely handle the Seed. Bayaz persuades her to join his journey as her chance for revenge on the Gurkish.
