Background
He helped raise Jorg Ancrath while serving his father. After Renar's ambush, King Olidan sent him to find out whether Jorg was truly dead, but Baron Kennick captured him and put him in a gibbet. In Prince of Thorns the Brothers find him in the gibbet on the Lichway; he warns them of the undead coming from the swamps on either side of the road, and they agree to take him back to the Tall Castle on their way to Wennith.
