Sir Makin Bortha is a knight and a member of the Brothers who is loyal to Jorg Ancrath in Mark Lawrence's The Broken Empire trilogy. He is arguably Jorg's closest friend.

Background
Married at twelve, Makin lost his wife and child in a raid and hunted down the men responsible across the Broken Empire. He was Captain of the Ancrath Imperial Guard under King Olidan when he was sent to bring the runaway Jorg back to the Tall Castle; instead he joined the brotherhood to protect the heir of Ancrath. He takes part in the looting of Mabberton and the ambush on the Lichway, and becomes Jorg's champion, though he sometimes criticises Jorg's most ruthless plans. He is a gifted swordsman, and later becomes Baron of Kennick.
