The series follows characters who travel into the Superbook to experience Biblical stories firsthand, accompanied by their robot friend Gizmo.[1] A Japanese Christian anime television series, Superbook, debuted in 1981 and was a co-production between Tatsunoko Productions (for TV Tokyo) and the Christian Broadcasting Network in the United States.[2]

It is a Japanese Christian anime television series from 1981.[2] The series premiere involves a character named Ruffles getting sucked into the newly "computerized" Superbook.[1] Tatsunoko Productions created the series for TV Tokyo in Japan, working together with the Christian Broadcasting Network based in the United States.[2] Streaming of the original 1981 Superbook series is available on Yippee TV as of July 2025.[3]
