Sovereign
The Crown Contest's supposed prize: a Dahnan re-engineered to control the Spirit Channeling Ceremony.

Background
When Alphen regains his memories it is revealed that he is the true Sovereign, made for the specific purpose of the Spirit Channeling Ceremony, which also requires a Maiden as the yin to the Sovereign's yang. The party realizes that everything about the Crown Contest was a lie, all the more when Vholran Igniseri reveals himself as another Sovereign despite never winning the Contest. The Forbidden Zone on Lenegis describes the Sovereign as Lenegis's central control device for the ceremony, granted Level 2 authority and an ID crest and created from a Dahnan subject; ideal candidates would have equal affinity for every astral element, but such aptitude is statistically rare, most subjects die during adjustment and stability is not guaranteed for survivors.
Only two Sovereigns are known: Alphen, abducted three hundred years ago and sent back to Dahna by the Maiden Naori Imeris after the failed ceremony, and Vholran, abducted more recently and placed as Lord of Ganath Haros when he proved too difficult to control.
