Spirit Albarn

Maka's father and Shinigami's death scythe.

Spirit Albarn, also called Death Scythe, is Maka's father in Soul Eater. At the start of the series he is the only death scythe based at DWMA, with jurisdiction over North America.

Lore & Background

His weapon form is a scythe with a black blade and a cross-shaped handle. He was first partnered with Franken Stein and became a death scythe with his second meister, Maka's mother. His womanising led to divorce and cost him Maka's respect, which he keeps trying to win back. He serves Shinigami, is paired with Stein when Stein starts teaching, and later returns to Shinigami's side. On the moon he helps Maka against Crona, since father and daughter can synchronise fully.
