The story of the Morning Star unfolds through specific battles and betrayals starting with the murder of ArchGovernor Revus au Raa at Darrow's victory feast. Rescued by Holiday and Trigg from Adrius, Darrow extracts Victra and kills a mocking Vixus before Aja au Grimmus kills Trigg. He unites with Sevro, who cedes leadership after their fight on Phobos. Key moments include the rescue of Quicksilver, the death of Ragnar Volarus by Aja's hand, and Darrow euthanizing his dying friend. The climax occurs when Darrow lies to Romulus about nuclear bombs to secure an alliance, then sacrifices the ship Pax to storm Roque au Raa's flagship Colossus.
