Ragnar Volarus, an unusually vocal warrior, spent years attempting to enlighten his kin, only to be dismissed by his mother, Alia Snowsparrow, who actively conspired with Society Golds to keep them ignorant. The turning point arrived when Sefi the Quiet, Ragnar's sister and heir to the Valkyrie throne, witnessed the deception firsthand. Upon learning that their deities were mere mortals, she deposed Alia, broke her silence-oath, and executed her mother for the betrayal. This act did not just free a tribe; it ignited a system-wide shift where Obsidians realized they could choose their own path.

In Their Own Story

The conflict on Mars' southern pole became the crucible for this change. Darrow, Virginia au Augustus, and Sefi arrived to recruit the Valkyries, only to find Alia Snowsparrow complicit with the Society. In a brutal confrontation, Aja au Grimmus fatally wounded Ragnar Volarus. Refusing the traditional Obsidian death of dropping his weapon, Ragnar urged Darrow to kill his own mother before he passed. Sefi then led her people in invading Asgard, defeating the Society Golds stationed there. Following the execution of Alia, Sefi formally led the Valkyries and other awakened tribes to join the Rising's fleet, transforming from silent enforcers into a decisive naval power that helped seize Luna.
