Background
Like his father he once served in the Marines, but he deserted after seeing their corruption and formed the Freedom Fighters to topple corrupt monarchs, before founding the Revolutionary Army to overthrow the World Government. Little is known about his activities, past or powers, yet he is the World Government's greatest enemy and the most wanted man in the world. His family ties became public after the Battle of Marineford. He keeps his distance to spare his son persecution but cares for him, and he saved Luffy from execution at Loguetown.
Straw Hats
The Straw Hats are the main characters of the One Piece series, a crew of ten pirates led by Monkey D. Luffy. The crew grows as Luffy recruits new members. After Usopp joins, they acquire the Going Merry, which is later replaced by the Thousand Sunny, built by Franky. Two years later, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet is formed, consisting of 5,640 pirates from seven crews. Luffy dislikes being a fleet commander and allows each crew to act independently, but they must help any crew in trouble. By the end of the Wano Country Arc, the Straw Hat Crew is recognized as an Emperor-led crew, with Luffy as leader of the Grand Fleet and the other nine members as Senior Officers, following the defeat of Kaido and Big Mom.
