Dracule Mihawk

The Strongest Swordsman in the World, and Zoro's goal.

Dracule Mihawk, also called "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk, is a pirate in One Piece who is one of the former Seven Warlords of the Sea and is known under the title of "The Strongest Swordsman in the World". His primary weapon is a Grosse Messer that he calls Yoru.

Background

Mihawk also carries a dagger concealed in a crucifix pendant. His personal ship, the Hitsugibune, is an all-black boat that resembles a coffin, with candles burning green fire on its edges and a mast shaped like Yoru. His yellow-and-black eyes are the source of his nickname. A loner, he has no crew and usually travels and lives alone.

Roronoa Zoro, who dreams of becoming the world's greatest swordsman, first challenged Mihawk to a duel to the death when Mihawk was hunting the pirate captain Don Krieg at the Baratie, and lost; Mihawk let him live, judging that he could grow into a worthy competitor. Mihawk later trained Zoro during the series' two-year time skip. After the Warlord system is abolished, he creates the Cross Guild with Crocodile.
