The Seventh Hokage's son cheats, is caught, and ends up saving his father.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie is a 2015 anime film, the directorial debut of Hiroyuki Yamashita, with script, character designs and screenplay by Masashi Kishimoto. Set fifteen years after the Fourth Great Ninja War, it follows Boruto Uzumaki, who resents his father Naruto for putting the duties of the Seventh Hokage ahead of the family.

Sasuke Uchiha returns to the village to warn Naruto of two powerful enemies and agrees to train Boruto once the boy can perform the Rasengan, which Boruto learns from Konohamaru. Boruto, on a team with Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, enters the Chunin Exams and wins his match by cheating with a Scientific Ninja Tool supplied by the scientist Katasuke; Naruto sees through it and disqualifies him in public.

Reader's Guide

At that moment Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki arrive. They want Kurama, the fox inside Naruto, to make a chakra fruit and become immortal, and they take Naruto after he shields Boruto and the crowd. Sasuke, the other Kage and Boruto go after them and free him. Momoshiki devours Kinshiki for strength, is beaten by Naruto and Sasuke together, is restored by Katasuke's blunder with a ninja tool, and is finally destroyed by a massive Rasengan that Boruto forms with his father's chakra. Released in August 2015, it became the franchise's highest-grossing film and was adapted as the first arc of the Boruto manga.
